Max Bygraves

Born in 1922 Max Bygraves was a singer and entertainer who was popular throughout the UK for many years.

Those of us who grew up in the 1950’s and 1960’s will remember those classic songs of his that were always on the radio, including “Gilly Gilly Ossenfeffer Katzenellenbogen By The Sea” and “You’re A Pink Toothbrush”, both regular features on Junior Choice.

From 1983 to 1985 Max presented the popular television game show Family Fortunes.

He lived in Alum Chine in Bournemouth for many years, retiring to Australia in 2008. Sadly Max passed away in Australia on 1st September 2012, he had Alzheimer’s Disease.
