Born in the Bournemouth area, brothers Michael Giles and Peter Giles formed Giles Giles And Fripp in 1967, with Michael Giles on drums and vocals, Peter Giles on bass guitar and vocals, and Robert Fripp on guitar.
The band only released an album, The Cheerful Insanity Of Giles Giles And Fripp, which did not sell well.
In 1968 Peter Giles left the band, while Michael Giles and Robert Fripp formed King Crimson, who had a number of hit albums, the best known being In The Court Of The Crimson King.
Peter joined up with King Crimson for their second album, In The Wake Of Poseidon.
Michael left King Crimson in 1969, and became a session musician, playing for artists such as Leo Sayer and Steve Winwood. He formed a King Crimson tribute band in 2002, 21st Century Schizoid Band. In 2008 he formed the Michael Giles MAD Band.
Peter Giles reunited with other former members of King Crimson in the 21st Century Schizoid Band, and has recently been working on an album of original music with his wife Yasmine.
