Alex James

Alex James is a musician and songwriter who is best known for playing bass and vocals with the band Blur.

He was born as Stephen Alexander James in the Boscombe suburb of Bournemouth in 1968 and attended Bournemouth Grammar School, before going to Goldsmiths College in London, which is where he met Graham Coxon, who was a fellow founding member of Blur.

Alex has led a rather bizarre lifestyle, which ranges from the hedonistic, where he claims to have spent more than a million pounds on champagne and cocaine, to his presenting The A-Z of Classic FM Music on Classic FM Radio and writing a weekly food column for various British newspapers.

More recently Alex moved to Oxfordshire where he purchased a 200 acre cheese farm and now specialises in producing organic cheese, his three types so far being called Blue Monday, Farleigh Wallop and Little Wallop.

So here we have one of the more diverse people who came from Bournemouth. You can discover more about Alex James and his life on Wikipedia.
